HANDING AND
TAKING OVER SERVICE
Chaplains far and near came to witness a service
that only happens once in five years. SANDF members came in their
numbers to grace the Handing and Taking over Service that took place
in the St. John’s Methodist Church: Thaba Tshwane, on Friday the
24th February 2012.

Chaplain General to another will never be the
same again. History has been written and now it
has to be adopted for the utilization in future.

The
SANDF Chaplain Service facilitated a process of reconciliation
between a predominantly white Vredelust Church in Bellville and a
‘Way of Life Church’ in Khayalisha as part of its outreach drive. On
the 25 of November 2011 the Chaplain Generals visited ‘Way of Life
Church’ where a brand new church building is nearing completion. The
church is a direct product of the reconciliation process and was
built by volunteers from both churches. The volunteers also painted
50 houses around the church and presented music classes the
neighboring school.
Chaplains
of the SANDF convened at the SAPS Weesgerus Holiday Resort near
Modimolle, Limpopo, from 17–21 October 2011 to celebrate their call
to spiritually, ethically and socially empower members of the
military fraternity. They were joined by international guests.
Together they reflected on and reconfirmed their call to support and
provide the spiritual nourishment and the building
